Checklist
Before your pool can be
opened to the public, the following must be met:
- Pool is in good repair
before cleaning and filling (no cracks, smooth
surface, etc.)
- Gates are self-closing
and self-latching
- Regulation fence is in
good repair
- Signs are posted
(including "No Lifeguard on Duty", "No Diving",
pool rules, bather load, etc.)
- Telephone at poolside is
operational
- "Emergency 911" sign is
posted by telephone
- Emergency life saving
equipment is provided and accessible (shepherd's
crook, ring buoy with rope, lifeline with
floats)
- Standard first aid kit
on premises
- Water quality test kit
on premises
- Water pH is between 7.2
and 7.6
- Chlorine levels are
between 1.0 and 3.0 ppm
- Bromine levels are
between 2.0 and 6.0 ppm
- Chemical inline feeder
is operational
- Pool water temperature
is 70 degrees Fahrenheit or above
- Spa/hot tub water
temperature is between 90 degrees F and 104
degrees F
- Steps, ladders and
handrails are in good repair
- Depth markers are on
deck and side walls of pool
- Operating records are
current and legible.
